IP problems with my brand new wireless network card

Mar 15, 2005 11:51AM PST

I keep getting the message that it can't renew my ip address. "The requested service provider could not be loaded or intitialized."

I used ipconfig /release | /renew, I've uninstalled the netgear driver/reinstalled, reset my modem & the router, nothing is working. PLEASE HELP.

I'm getting the limited or no connectivity message.

It has a strong signal, it recognizes the router is sending a signal. All I can get is a 169. IP.

No detail, nothing specific I fear.

No mention of exact make/model and whether the router firmware is uptodate and ... the Wifi enabled. Just that you reset it. Some routers disable the wifi on reset. But with the lack of detail all I can offer is this.

I don't know what firmware is or Wifi. MR814 Netgear router, WG511T nic card.

The good news is.

Both are the same make. The bad news is that consumers are now saddled with learning such things as firmware updates. http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/MR814.asp and click on your model and off to the right is the firmware update.

Let me ask this. Are you using Netgear's support FAQs?

If not, why not? You don't have to answer this question, but I always find it interesting to know why.
