It's not used too often for private LANs but http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=private+ip+space+172 and reading a few I'd go back to 10 or 192.
Bob
We just moved offices yesterday. In doing so, we decided to redo our ip scheme from 10.0.0.x to 172.31.0.x. I have made this server 172.31.0.1 and from this server I can ping 172.31.0.2 (the other server), other IPs from workstations, as well as yahoo.com, etc. I cannot ping from anywhere else to this server though. Also, I cannot browse out using this machine.
Am I missing something completely obvious here? I set the static IP, gateway, subnet, and dns accordingly. Ive set DNS services accordingly, turned of DHCP (we are now using a Cisco ASA5500 and running dhcp off of that.
What could be the deal?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
