IP address locator for Windows Remote Desktop connection

by matthailey / September 15, 2007 6:49 AM PDT

I am planning on having a remote desktop connection setup from my home pc so that i can log into it while I am at work. The problem is that I don't have a static IP address and it can change from day to day. Is there a site, or software etc, that is able to keep track of what your latest home IP address is? For example, I could log onto a website at work which keeps track of my IP address at home and provides me with the latest address so I can then log onto my home computer using remote desktop.

Thanks Happy

IP Address Lookup
by gaspar93 / January 10, 2009 7:25 PM PST

I had the same problem as you until I found a combination of 2 tools that made this procedure much simple. The first step you need to find out what your ip address is. Try an online ip address locator like for example. Then you need a remote ip connection tool. I highly recommend this one

The second option of yours, is to use a tool that does them both. Use (it is free) and istall it in your pc. Follow the guidelines and it will be simple to use because it does not require you to know the ip address to connect to. The program will generate and id and password for you.

Hope I could help,
Gaspar F.

Thank you for sharing the IP lookup website. I've used it and it shows great results. I was able to trace some friends with only their IP addresses.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
