When I click the "Download now" link, the page changes, then I am offered a file to download.
Does that not happen for you?

When I try to download IObit security 360 free, I am redirected to to a page that requires me to sign up for a trial "pro" version and will not let download the free version.

I find this very disturbing and I would uninstall anything from IOBit on your computer.
And I urge Cnet, Download.com remove products from IOBit from their website.
The CNET Download.com team is already aware of this and is actively looking into it.
It's a shame that this has happened. Who can we trust nowadays??
Thank you!

I want it off of my computer, and it won't go. I uninstalled Smart Defrag, it's gone, but the doggone iobit.com is still there.
IMHO I wouldn't be so quick to write off Iobit,
after reading several posts/opinions on the subject,
these being excellent examples.

<snip>As far as the Malwarebytes' and IObit controversy is concerned, you might want to read this. It's the most unbiased "take" of the situation, I've read thus far.<snip>
I got the Iobit.com toolbar. I uninstalled Smart but the Iobit.com toolbar is still there....I WANT IT GONE. How do I get rid of it. Customer Support won't reply to my emails.
Does it show up in Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs?
Better yet, try Revo Uninstaller.
It came with the Smart Defrag update. In Control Panel it showed as Smart Defrag in the first column and Iobit in the second column. I uninstalled Smart successfully; but the Iobit.com toolbar is still there!
Hopefully that works.
Who are these people imbedding their program in the Smart Defrag? how dare they do this! In the future I'm not using Cnet tracker to download but going to the software site direct.
Any toolbars, third-party software, etc. that is included in the download is added by the publisher/developer, not Cnet. The publisher/developer may offer alternative versions that exclude such packaged software on other sites, including their own, but Cnet has no control over such actions except to de-list any software that fails to conform with Cnet's TOS. Thus, boycotting Cnet TechTracker and other services will not help resolve the problem or deter the future bundling of software by those third-party companies.
Regards,
John
Or something...that Smart Defrag has an add-on toolbar...whatever.
