Question

Inverter issue or something else?

by webersc37 / November 13, 2014 2:55 AM PST

Hello,

I have a 32 inch Samsung that's about 2 years old. After about 13 months, the TV lost its picture but still had sound. I've just now gotten around to messing around with it.

I looked at the capacitors on the power supply and they all look good, but I noticed that with a strong flashlight I could still see a picture on the TV, so I figured it was probably the power inverter. I replaced the power inverter, and now the TV is totally black, no picture at all even with the flash light, and there is a buzzing sound near the inverter in the back of the TV. The inverter is model SST-4UA01

I put the older inverter back in, and the picture came back, but the flash light was still required to see it.

Is the new inverter that I received also faulty, or is something else going on here?

Thanks!

I appreciate the response, and it's nothing against you or Samsung, who I will continue to buy from in the future, but I found your company's customer support on this matter to be unsatisfactory. I understand that a one year warranty means one year and I appreciate that offering free servicing for that time period is a testament to the company's confidence in their quality, however I had the tv for approximately one year before it went bad, which I think everyone would agree is a short time period for a premium branded tv to fail. 32 inch TVs can now be had for $150 or less, and I'm not willing to pay samsung several hundred dollars to service a tv when that service will cost more than the tv is now worth.
