Invalid Page Fault

Mar 13, 2004 11:12PM PST

I've got Windows 98, and am currently unable to 'open' the documents created by MSPAINT and saved in the 'My Documents' file. My other saved documents there are fine, but with the saved MSPAINT documents I get the consistent message: 'MSPAINT has caused an invalid page fault in module MFC 42 DLL.' Then, of course I'm forced to close the program. any ideas? Thanks

I can easily find: HKEY_CURRENT_USER in the regedit box, but, after clicking on it, I don't find the specific complete version which would include \Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Applets\Paint. If I'm going to delete something in the regedit, wouldn't I need to find the entire issue you described? Thanks again.

You could if nothing else after you open the Registry editor is to click on Edit, Search, type a backslash followed by applets, or either type applets and a backslash and then press Enter. You'll have to press the F3 key at least once for it to continue searching but you will eventually arrive at the end location. After reaching there, all you have to do is click the tiny plus (+) before the word Applets to see Paint.
