Interrupted phone service after use of computer/AT&T DSL

Mar 22, 2009 1:35AM PDT

I have DSL service with AT&T. I have installed filters on all phone lines and have a router from AT&T. After I have used a wireless laptop computer I experience problems with my phone (a landline with an answering machine). The phone will ring two times then stop ringing; ring two times and stop ringing, etc. Eventually, the answering machine will pick up. If I try to pick up the phone, there is nothing there. The person calling experiences many, many rings before the answering machine picks up. Most people hang up before the answering machine picks up. I notice the problem is worse after a rain, but it is a problem anytime that I use my computer.
Any ideas? If I disconnect the power from the router and leave it off for a few seconds, the phone will work OK until the next time I use the computer. I contacted the phone company and they moved the phone box on the side of the house down slightly, but that
did not fix the problem.
Any suggestions?

I have a 2Wire Wireless Gateway router. Phones--Radioshack 2.4GHz digital phone with one additional handset, a Uniden 2.4 GHz handset and an old AT&T wallmounted rotary phone. There are filters on all the phone lines.
I did not connect the yellow cable from the router to the computer because it has a wireless card in it. Could this be causing the problem?

6 GHZ or wired phones, as some of the older wireless phones caused problems with DSL modems. Wallmounted rotary phone.:&gtWink
