Question

Internet Won't Connect - need assistance

Mar 14, 2018 6:16AM PDT

Hello. 2 days ago I had taken out and cleaned my heatsink and replaced the thermal paste on my CPU. However, after one day of usage and putting it into Hibernation mode, when I turned it back on the network just doesn't work.

It's wireless, but when I clicked on the list of network it ends up completely empty. Trouble shooting it says that "There's a broken connection with an ethernet cable", but I don't have one attached and I don't have one to try and use at the moment.

I tried to ping but lost every one of the packets, and a network driver reset and rolling back to a previous version of windows did not help.

My friend said that has happened to them before, but it just comes back after enough time. I let it sit overnight, but it's still not working!

I'm not sure what caused this issue, but it's my gaming PC and being unable to use the internet at all is incredibly troubling. Please help!

Things to try:
- See if it works with an Ethernet cable.
- See if it works with a USB WiFi dongle.

It looks like some hardware issue, so you try hardware solutions.
