by giak77 / February 28, 2011 6:20 PM PST

Hello,

Is it possible to have Internet@TV on UE32C5100 model of the Samsung LED TV. Upgrading the firmware will enable this feature or this feature requires additional hardware to make this feature work?.

giak77,

The Internet@TV feature may not be available in all regions. I'm not sure if a firmware update will be adding it to the television that doesn't have it, unless that region is authorized to run the content included with Internet@TV.

You might check with the Samsung customer service center in your region for further information.

Im from Italy and here Internet@TV is available. Samsung 6 series has this feature. Mine, C5100, has the ethernet port but at the moment it's quite useless, coz i cannot surf the net (there is not any browser on my tv) and there is not the widget page of Internet@TV. So my question is, is it a marketing policy or my TV is not ready for this?

Thank u a lot

In the US, Internet@TV is only available on the UNxxC6500 and up series.

Are there any plans to make this feature available in other models of Samsung TVs with a firmware update?.

GeoffSri,

Not that I'm aware of. Typically if the television doesn't come with a feature, it usually won't be added later on with a firmware update. The reason being is that sometimes the hardware can differ from model to model, and the features may not be older run on a unit that it wasn't initially are specifically designed to run on.

That said, you may want to contact the Samsung customer service center in your region to see if there will be new developments for some of the televisions that don't have the feature, but I don't believe that to be the case.

The good news is that if you want apps, Internet@TV is also available on many of the 2010 Samsung Blu-ray players. What's nice about the availability of Internet@TV on Blu-ray players is that you don't have to replace the entire television just to get the latest apps. It's less expensive to upgrade, say a Blu-ray player than an entire television.
