rishi_hemnani,

Several of the 2010 models (LAxxCxxx) have the new Samsung Apps feature that includes many of the new Apps. Unfortunately, these new widgets (or Apps) will not be backwards-compatible or available on the 2009 models.

It would be most appreciated if a facebook widget would be available for download for the 2009 version of LA52B750.... i baught this tv on december 2009, and it would be quite unfair for the users not to be able to use the same widgets as the updated units can.

i mean.. you guys called it Internet@tv right?

rishi_hemnani,

It's up to the widget's owner to create a widget, and that is dependent on if the TV can host it.

The 2009 models aren't able to host many of the new widgets designed for the technology that comes with the 2010 models.

This was released to the Widget Gallery a few months ago, then withdrawn due to an incompatibility with the widget software. Although that software was updated soon afterwards (through the Internet connection), the widget has not so far re-appeared. Perhaps HD_Tech knows who to prompt to get this re-released.

Certainly for 2009 European models. I believe LA models are more restricted generally for widgets.

jw650,

The widget owners author the widget for specific models and specific regions. It's not Samsung soley deciding, but the widget or App owner. I can't speak to what they'll make available for which model until it is officially announced.

I understood it was Yahoo! that effectively controlled release through its servers, once manufacturers had given the OK. I suspect they also issued the engine firmware updates which appeared shortly after the Facebook widget "fail".

Is there no support contact at Yahoo! for this? There must be a liaison point somewhere in Samsung.

jw650,

We do quality control testing to make sure that it works properly.

The rest probably has a lot to do with internal discussions that I can't really speak about here.
