Internet Through an LCD

by nateschlueter / November 11, 2008 3:04 AM PST

Looking to purchase a new LCD and wondering if any Samsung's have the capability to surf the net with its "wireless" connection capabilities or if it just provides you with generic news and weather.

nateschluester,

The InfoLink feature on our 6-Series and above allow you to access a dedicated RSS feed provided by a partnership with USA Today. That is the limitation of internet services available.

That said, you can access your local weather, national headlines and customizable stock quotes.

I hope that helps explain what you were looking for. Thanks for considering Samsung products.

That's sort of what I thought, my goal was to be able to stream fancast/hulu,etc, without having to get another toy like a slingbox. Do you have any suggestions for a digital media receiver?

It definitely depends on what you want to do.

My best suggestion is to browse some of the forums here in the Samsung threads. There are some options, such as PC Share, the Samsung MediaLive product, and of course, some video files can be played via WiseLink on a thumb-drive. Or, you could hook your computer into the VGA port and use the television as your monitor.

As far as digital streaming, the options are somewhat limited, partially due to technology, partially due to copyright and broadcasting laws. But there are a handful of enthusaists here who have explored the options and posted their opinions.

I'd encourage you to check them out. Happy
