Resolved Question

Internet speed & wi-fi

Dec 18, 2014 1:26AM PST

I currently have a Desktop PC.Want to get a laptop, and be rid of the desktop. My question is:At this time I have 5mbps internet speed. If I downgraded to DSL (to save the money),would that affect the performance of the wi-fi to be used with the new laptop,i.e. signal strength, speed of laptop, etc.?Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Let's look at old reliable 802.11g speed.

That's 54 megabits on a good line of sight connection so your internet is less than 10% of that. I would set my router to 802.11g to avoid channel issues and be great.
