Internet Radio

Apr 8, 2005 12:27AM PDT

I am seeking something that maybe you can help me find. I've tried another forum and received answers that aren't exactly what I seek.

I've also asked the forum the question below, on Audio Extract Pro and been told by the developers that the product can't do that. Pity because I paid 60 bucks for it already. Theirs only works on a certain type of radio station provided in a list by the application. I cannot specify a URL.

I've tried a few other products as well, some of which allow you to enter a URL and it still doesn't work.

There is a radio station located at www.monsters.fm that allows listeners to click on a link to listen to their show from 6am to 11am mon ? fri. What I want to do is set up a permanent schedule using a software product that requires no programming. I am willing to pay up to 200 bucks (US) for software that will do this.

The URL I believe that has the sound is
http://ccri.eonstreams.com/ccri_fl_orlando_wtks_fm.asf
Although, I am not entirely sure thats the one I need to use in an application.

Once I supply the softeware with the link, I would like to set up a schedule for each hour of the program, so that the file is chopped into nice easy to move sound files. I don?t have to reset the program, or do anything other than check the directory and move the files to my PSP and delete the old ones.

That is all I want. There is internet radio products like audio extract pro that I?ve already checked into that don?t do this, because they rely on some kind of special list of radio stations. Its pretty close though.

Typically, I?ve been given responses that sound something like this (and I exaggerate a little here to make my point) ?What you want to do is first download the java runtime environment and then set up a consys.cfg file, and then convert to mpeg-4 codec but make sure the file overrun buffers aren?t set to 30, otherwise you?ll have a ram overrun buffer mode on your 44 mhz, and that?s obviously bad. Now once you install that, then install the freeware fossil driver, and load that in your autoexec.bat, then convert that to a .exe using a CC+++-/-* editor that you can get in Q basic, but make sure you strip the spyware from it, then use bit torrent to download the ??

I don?t want to do any of that. I want to buy a single piece of software that I point to the correct url, schedule to record the show mon-fri, it makes unique file names and I just go in and move the files. Set it and forget it. Simple.

any advice?

Audacity and it's timed recording feature will do.

Maybe it's not as pretty as you want, but my first thought was you needed to tweak it. Now I see that with the existing work, it's good to go.

Hi Bob
Apr 8, 2005 4:11AM PDT

I actualy started this thread to avoid confusion about the Audacity solution you proposed in the other thread. You have a habit of assuming the Audacity solution actually solves my problem. I am afraid that is not what I am looking for. I keep mentioning that in the hopes that some one else will offer some feedback and ideas.

I am looking more for a type of audio extract pro that lets me assign that URL to it, or that will provide me with XM 152 or WTKS 104.1 simulcast somehow.

I was hoping to hear from some one else about a possible integrated solution. I don't want to edit sound files, I want to use the application as an all in one scheduled tool.

Just sharing. For pay you can try Power Record.

You may want to add such to the proposed feature list of AUDACITY. If you don't ask for it, it never gets added. I wonder if you have done ANY RESEARCH for this software? These forums are "you and I" looking.

Have you looked at http://www.blazeaudio.com/products/powerrecord.html ?

I tend to stick with OPEN SOURCE projects first and resort to pay solutions when nothing else will do.

Best of luck,

Bob
