Internet Providers Quietly Test Expanded Tracking

by WOODS-HICK / April 4, 2008 9:08 AM PDT

are you as unshocked by this revelation as I? amateurs research my old posts. at least the pros are doing something useful for our economic system but also not for your benefit. of course anyone could skew the info by visiting sites they don't like. the ads you get should be a tip to see if you are one of the 'selected'.

Internet Providers Quietly Test Expanded Tracking of Web Use to Target Advertising

The online behavior of a small but growing number of computer users in the United States is monitored by their Internet service providers, who have access to every click and keystroke that comes down the line.

The companies harvest the stream of data for clues to a person's interests, making money from advertisers who use the information to target their online pitches.

and something for the junior detectives: if this thread gets locked you can investigate if that is my "fingerprint".
