Question

Internet problems

Nov 30, 2019 1:10AM PST

Hey , I have had an on going issue with my phone and internet. Chorus isn’t fixing it , it’s been going on for 4 months. Where the speed is showing at 17mbsp Download speed on the Chorus website and my modem interface. when I do an online speed test I get 0.40mbsp, one of the lowest speeds in New Zealand. a technician brought my modem and plugged directly into the cabinet and I received 0.40mbsp. I’ve tried spark, frizbox and net gear modems. I’ve tried gaming laptop, windows and MacBook laptops , and Ethernet cable and all 1-0.40mbsp. Download speeds. I’m only 800m from the cabinet , and on ADSL.

Any suggestions of what the problem could be , or how to fix it ,

Given the story.

It does not appear to be on your end as you changed boxes, PCs and more. Also since Chorus is not changing a thing there is one last thing I try before I write this off. I unplug ANY and ALL things from the DSL except for the DSL modem and try one last time.

Modem or Wiring Issue
Dec 6, 2019 9:27PM PST

Since you have tried different modem/router models at your home and still get 0.40 mbps speed, it looks like wiring issues may be at the root of the speed problem of slow speed. You may want to try requesting to have your ISP, Chorus, run line tests to see if a line issue is present. Talking to a manager is best to do to get this done given the amount of time that has been spent going through this slow speed issue.

Site likely was flagged

Likely, the website was flagged by an antivirus program. There is also a possibility that the issue is on the website's server side. You can try the following Windows command to clear the DNS cache.
ipconfig /flushdns

This may solve the problem. It has to be done from the command prompt under the Administrator account.
