Internet Problem

Mar 6, 2009 9:08AM PST

Symptoms:
On one night my comuter was working fine. The next day i could not access the internet. When i accessed Firefox and tried to connect to a website Firefox gave me a message saying "Address Not Found". My internet connection states that it is connected and that my speed is 100.0 Mbps but underneath that the packets i am recieving and sending is minimum. The strange thing is that i can still connect to Steam and play Counter-Strike Source. When connected to Counter-Strike the packets i recieve and send increase and by the end i have reached up to 10,000 or more packets sent and recieved. I have tried rebooting numerous times and initiating a system restore but it was of no help. I have tried pinging websites through CMD but it says that the ping request could not find the host yahoo.com. I have also tried using another web browser (IE7) but it does not connect. I also have another computer connected to the same router and a laptop connected to the wireless router. Both the computer and laptop connect to the internet perfectly.

Specifications:
I am running Windows XP (Version 5.1.2600 Service pack 3 build 2600) with the latest updates. I have BitDefender running and i am connected to a NetGear RP614 v3 Router which in turn is connected to D-Link ADSL Modem. Thats all i can really say. If you would like to know any other specifications please tell me as im not really a computer understanding person.
