Internet only working when I plug in USB.

Aug 24, 2008 11:15PM PDT

I recently had to reformat my computer and when I did. The internet no longer worked. No matter what I did it seemed. The only way I can get it to work now is when I use the USB, but this prevents me from using my router for my gaming consoles. Any ideas?

I run through charter communications. And It was my understanding that the cable internet was plug and play.

Do I need drivers? Other software?

System Spec:
XPS/Dimension XPS Gen 4

Pentium 4 3.73 Ghz
2GB Ram

If there is more you'd like to know just ask.

That you install after the XP OS. Your post sounds like you haven't finished the OS install with all the Dell drivers.

I only had one disk to reinstall with. Is there a way to get them again via dell.com?

Yes, I did do the network set up thing, it just tells me that the connection should be already working cause its broadband.

Should have been a supplemental CD.

Try again at Dell.com, your service tag and it will list drivers for motherboard, ethernet which would be the two most important ones for this application.
