Internet messages disappear

Just had a power failure. When I re-started the computer, all the messages in my in-box and deleted box were gone. All other folders were okay.

Any thoughts about why this happened or if a system restore might bring them back?

I have Verizon DSL and can go on-line to retrieve messages, but this is time consuming and not very efficient.

Any suggestions? Thanks

System restore = no.

SR only restores system files. All others are left up to us to defend (backup.)

System Restore - No!

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of! I do have the email on my Netbook, but it's a bit of a pain to transfer it back. Oh well. Still wish I knew what caused this to happen -- that only the in-box and deleated files disappeared. All the other mail boxes are fine.

Why?

Any crash or unexpected power out at the wrong moment can lose entries in apps. At least it was not as bad when I started. But then we had paper tape and cards.
