Hi Bob
sorry i didnt reply earlier but i have been on holiday. anyway as you may remember my friends laptop would not open ie after i removed a toolbar from it that allowed viruses and worms to enter my brothers computer.
in the last message you sent me you wanted to know more detailes about the crash....unfortunatly i cannot give you any more detail as there simply is no more detail to give.
as fro the anti-parasite programs i downloaded the ones you sugested (except CWshreader as i could not find it. the display and vidio drivers are up to date. i know this as i have run the windows update my self and made sure all the critical update packs and updated drivers were installed.
my friend has also been to PCWorld who sugested that she should run the dell/me recovery cd that came with her comp...i have not tried running this myself but she tells me that it never completed but i dont know why just yet.
should i give it another go and let you know what happens? can i use that cd to wipe the whole of the hard drive and reinstall everything my self or does it have to have a os on the comp already?

thank you for all your help

aman
