Internet explorer won't start

Jul 9, 2010 12:29AM PDT

I am running Windows 7 and for some reason Windows Internet Explorer won't start when I click on it. The page opens up and just sits there. The page is blank and it says connecting. I have left it for ten minutes and it never does open my home page. It is not my connection because Windows Live works fine. I have to hit cnt'l alt delete and bring up task manager to get it to end. After I do this it asks me if I would like to go to my home page and I say yes and it opens. This is a major pain. Does anyone have any sugestions on how to fix this problem. Thanks

Repair IE

If you find IE not running properly in Windows, here are some trouble-shooting steps you may try to fix the problem:
1. Run your anti-virus and an anti-spyware, to check for malware infections. Microsoft Security Essentials is a good freeware AV from Microsoft.
2. Clear Cache. Or else run your Junk Cleaner or CCleaner. In IE 7 or 8, click Tools > Internet options > Security > Reset all Zones to Default level
3. If still you find your IE giving problems, close it and run IE (No Add-ons). This opens up the browser without loading any add-ons, toolbars or plug-ins.
4. Run sfc /sc

Internet Explorer won't start

Thanks for the quick reply. I did everything you said and it seems to have worked. Explorer starts everytime if I go straight to explorer but if I try to link something from Windows live mail I end up with the same problem. For example you gave me a link to fix problems, I couldn't just click on it because as soon as it tried to open I got the same blank page and nothing happened. I had to copy and paste in explorer in order for the link to work. How do I make the links work in Mail. Thanks for your patience. John
