Good luck.
Basically the computer was fine until XP was installed - a LAN i set up for office working and all is fine, but dial-up has caused a very difficult problem. Basically a dial up account is set up, and it dials to the net no problem. The small icon flashes to show the connection is ok and its speed. Problem is dns error appears instead of the home website. Have tried numerous dial up accounts, none work, but all allow connection to the net, but no browsing. Have installed new internet Explorer etc but still have problem. Troubleshooter has not solved this either, and i am a windows 98 "master" ;o) when it comes to dial up connection problems.
Anyone know of an XP setting that may sort this out - i have already messed about with the firewall settings - all with no results though. Outlook express also connects, but pop3 errors occur, for various accounts.
One last important piece of info - the xp was installed by head office in usa, but computer is used in uk - can this be the cause? i have already set locality to uk....
Thanks for any advice - i am running out of ideas except to have xp re-installed.
