Internet Explorer trouble

by techlilly / December 1, 2009 12:13 AM PST

I'm having trouble with IE slow issues. I know, this has been covered in these forums, I've read them, but the answers don't seem to apply to my particular situation. I'd like to try and get rid of IE altogether and reinstall it. Problem is, I can't figure out how to uninstall it. I can't figure out how to even uninstall the current version so that I can revert back to a previous version. I looked both in Control Panel>programs and features, as well as in the "uninstall updates" option. IE is now where to be found. I also can't figure out what version of IE i'm running. It looks like IE7 but I can't find version info anywhere.

My computer runs like molasses with IE. It takes second (like 20 or more) to bring up even the simplest of pages. My machine seems to run fine with other browsers such as Google Chrome or Safari. I'm running Vista SP1, 32-bit.

Can someone help?

Thank you!

Repost in the more active Computer Help forum.

I read your post and didn't see what you've tried. As you read it all I would be remiss in sharing any fix I found useful.

Then again I use IE for one thing. Windows Udpate.

As such I no longer fix a slow IE.

Thank you for the suggestion. I tried rephrasing my post a bit and reposted where you suggested.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
