Internet Explorer slow to start

Dec 8, 2003 6:52AM PST

My Internet Explorer is real slow to start. It takes about 2 minutes to start and when it does no search engine will work. I have a cable modem with a router attached. The wierd thing is that my e-mail (outlook express) works fine. I downloaded Opera and that works fine also. Any help would be greatful. Thanks

I am sorry. I have run Spybot and adware. They did not remove anything out of the ordinary. Do you think I should run some of the other programs? Thanks for the help in advance.

Other possibles. Less likely, but let's list them.

Ok, finally got around to running all 5 plus the other ones. No Viruses were found. Nothing is running on start up either. It is wierd that outlook express works fine and so does Opera and Mozzilla. You had mentioned about a full IE restore. Think that would work? Thanks for all the help.

It's your choice not to share all the grisly details, but I do drop hints about autocomplete and more. As to "virus", today's plagues are so diverse that I lump virus, trojan, spyware, pests, hijackers, BHO's and more into the general term "PARASITES." The antivirus companies have until recently decided that such are not a virus and its an uphill battle about these items are truly unwelcome and don't show up as a "virus." Again, your choice to keep such pests.

As to the rip-out and reinstall of IE and OE, before I reveal this its best you know that EMAIL, Addresses and Favorites do vanish. Here's the last person I helped do this and their discussion -> http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6141-0.html?forumID=8&threadID=5560&start=0
