Internet Explorer Script Error

Jun 15, 2004 8:51PM PDT

Just lately I've started getting 'script error' messages when I try to open one particular type of e-mail (which comes from a trusted source). It only occurs with this particular e-mail. I've read through all the previous threads on this subject and checked to make sure my Internet Options are properly set - and so on.
There's nothing I can see that will solve this problem. Can anyone help please?
I'm running W98 and IE6 (SP1) and use Incredimail as my e-mail client.

y'all....

1. Windows Script Host [WSH] is a language-independent scripting host for 32-bit Windows platforms and is included in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and later. Windows Script provides two script engines, Visual Basic Scripting Edition and Microsoft JScript, which can be embedded into Windows Applications. It also provides an extensive array of supporting technologies that makes it easier for script users to script Windows applications. It serves as a controller of ActiveX scripting engines, just as Microsoft Internet Explorer does. Because the scripting host is not a full Internet browser, it has a smaller memory footprint than Internet Explorer; therefore, WSH is appropriate for performing simple, quick tasks. Scripts can be run directly from the desktop by double-clicking a script file, or from a command prompt. WSH provides a low-memory scripting host that is ideal for non-interactive scripting needs such as logon scripting, administrative scripting, and so on. WSH can be run from either the protected-mode Windows-based host (Wscript.exe), or the real-mode command shell-based host (Cscript.exe), [Q188135].

2. W2K and WinME users have version 2.0 installed. Win9x and WinNT 4.0 users have version 1.0. "Upgrade" to version 5.6, from this Microsoft Windows Script Technologies Web site. Several areas of functionality have been addressed in this "latest version."

WOW Bill... you sure have worked hard on this for me. Thank you very much for such a detailed and informative (and understandable!) post. I'm much in you debt.
I am downloading the latest WSH version as I write this... and I'll come back with a quick update after it has been installed.
Again - many thanks.

Well Bill - I guess it was a good try! Unfortunately I still have the same problem after downloading and installing the latest WSH version. This is disappointing (naturally) because I really thought your suggestion would have solved everything.
Ah well... back to the drawing board!
(And thanks again for your effort.)

1. Course, we cannot see your computer from here nor that which is described in your statement.

2. No guarantee on anything but perhaps if the exact error message is posted, somebody may be familiar with it or we can find something. I do not use Incredimail and who knows, this might be a problem with those who should furnish support for it or they cause the problem.
