Internet Explorer Script Err

Jun 22, 2004 7:59AM PDT

I am using a desktop weather program put out by the Weather Channel. When it loads, I get an Internet Explorer Script Error. After I click on the Yes, it goes away and I can run the program. But it's a pain.

The specific message is Error: Expected ')'Line 1236 Char 61.

What is all this about. Many thanks.

Matt Clark

y'all....

Note: With the minimal information in your question there is no way to answer. Look at the reported problems and their possible fix and you should understand that without detailed information, help is minimal.

1. The article [Q188135] describes procedure for minimizing warning and explains that Internet Explorer treats Windows Scripting Hosts (WSH) objects as unsafe ActiveX controls, and if a Web site tries to initialize or script a WSH object (for example, to access files on your local computer), Internet Explorer does not initialize or script the object at high or medium security settings and renders a warning.

2. W2K and WinME users have version 2.0 installed. Win9x and WinNT 4.0 users have version 1.0. "Upgrade" to version 5.6, from this Microsoft Windows Script Technologies Web site. Several areas of functionality have been addressed in this "latest version."

This is not to help, but like Matt's submission it is a plea for help. I have a similar problem, except that it occurs every time I start up the computer. I am using Win XP with IE 6. My problem relates to a "balder.prohosting.com/2coool" http script error message. This in turn is evidently related to a GOOGLE search attempt and a program called "Free Screensavers". I have tracked down every file relating to this and deleted them, as well as all cookies and temp. files, but every time I start up I get the same error message. It only goes away after 8 clicks on either YES (continue) or NO. Sorry if this intrudes into Matt's domain but I presume it is much the same kind of problem ? If not tell me where to look for assistance. Thanks.

Please let me suggest that since the forum policy is to not intermingle questions, ask this question on the "WinXP" forum and to also enter that error correctly with the complete displayed information concerning it.
