Hi,
I have internet explorer 6.0 SP2. I am trying to view an online tutorial but when I click on the htm page all I get is a blank web browser screen with a little box in the upper left corner with a red x in it. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks,
Chuck

Sounds like mabe what I recently experenced. Turned out the the wroung file association was assigned. Mabe the same fix will work for your situation.

I'd recommend creating a System Restore Point or other reliable backup in case it doesn't work or makes matters worse.

Right click on the .htm shortcut. Go to "Open With" and left click on the Internet Explorer icon. If the Internet Explorer icon is not available then left click on "Choose Program" then left click on the Internet Explorer icon.

Hope this helps.

I am trying to view an online tutorial but when I click on the htm page all I get is a blank web browser screen with a little box in the upper left corner with a red x in it.

Give us the map (URL) and directions (tutorial name) of where you've traveled so we can see the same scenery please.

Please note that just above the text editor (where you enter a question on the forum) is the following paragraph in RED, and if certain information is not present in your question, our reply may not be very helpful:

Note: If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem.

Note also: You have the option of using the hyperlink ''Edit My Profile'' on the right side of the main page to fill in applicable system information so that it is available.

Could this .htm page be a page that than was saved to the hard drive? When I save a web page to the hard drive as an .htm it creates a folder of associated image files. And if this folder of image files becomes corrupt, deleted or moved, the associated .htm file does not display properly or at all.

Hello,
Hey thanks to both for ideas. I found out what it was. When I accessed the tutorial with my daughter's computer I noticed the HTM page was starting a java applet. Aha! I went back to my computer downloaded the java runtime software off the java site(http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp) and voila
it's now working. So, add that to the list of possibilities when you get the box with the red x.
Regards,
Chuck
