Question

Internet Explorer not working but other browsers are

by astima / August 16, 2011 12:18 PM PDT

my Internet Explorer stopped working two days ago, but Firefox Mozilla works fine. I think it's a virus because shortly before it stopped working I was on a website that got hacked.

I have run Norton AntiVirus and super anti-spyware and neither has found any viruses that would cause this. I have also tried disabling add-ons, but I'm still having problems.

Internet explorer starts to open, but freezes shortly after opening (sometimes it does not open all the way). it says Internet explorer is not responding.

What should my next step be?

Which Operating System? Which Internet Explorer?

Tried resetting Internet Explorer yet? Open the Control Panel-Internet Options icon, then click on the "Advanced" tab and click on the "Reset" button at the bottom of the screen.. Choose 'Yes/OK" when it asks "Are you sure?"

Try running Malwarebytes as well as the other tools you've used.. The link is below:

Malwarebytes Antimalware

Just a note: ON these forums, we've seen similar problems BECAUSE of Norton.. If nothing else works, try uninstalling Norton and see if it fixes the problem.

Hope this helps.

you might make use of the Add/Remove programs applet for Internet Explorer which will offer an option to repair it.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
