internet explorer help

Mar 21, 2004 7:19AM PST

when my browser is open, if i right click on a link to open a link in a new window, or if it brings up a new window on its own, the new browser starts to come up. usually the frame of the window, and then it stops, it doesnt finish loading. also if i click a link in my outlook it hangs up. but if a hot ctrl-n a new window comes up just fine. i have ran spybot-error checking-windows update and made sure my internet security and anti virus are up to date. i tried to do a system restore but it wont let me go back. I have also turned off my pop up stopper and did msconfig and made sure nothing was loading that shouldn't be. please help
thanks

Can I assume the ''browser'' is IE?

1. The article [Q281679] explains that when a hyperlink in an e-mail message or on a Web page, or right-click a hyperlink on a Web page and then click Open in New Window, one or more of the following symptoms may occur, discusses reasons, and provides troubleshooting steps for resolution:

Nothing happens
The new window may be blank
You may receive a scripting error message

2. In addition, please review the article, "Internet Explorer open with a blank page instead of web site."

3. The article [Q194759] explains and discusses troubleshooting steps for when a new window in IE is opened, it may open at the edge of the screen, that only a small section of the new window may be visible, and can occur if certain registry values for IE are incorrect or damaged.

I can't fix browser. Here is a fix for system restore.
I had A problem using McAfee anti-virus.
Disconnect from the web, then disable your anti-virus.
Manualy set your restore point, use a description such as A-OK. After restore point is set, ENABLE your anti-virus. System should restore to the manualy set points.
Do this BEFORE making any HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE additions
