Start the version of IE that runs without add-ons, and when inside that go to Tools>Manage add-ons to disable all those add-ons. Probaby one of them is the cause. If it works then, only enable the ones you really need.

Dear Kees_B /Carol, I really am not computer savvy and hence fear that I could accidentally create further muddles and erase the google chrome and mozilla firefox browsers from my computer. Cnet Techtracker has accessed and availed the system installed software details, can the help me? PLEASE !

Shirley..

In addition to what Kees suggested.......

If you haven't done so already, I would recommend scanning with the below tools to rule out any "unwanted visitors" as the cause.

You failed to mention if you have an operable browser. If so, try the below. Malwarebytes offers a free version. . And Hitman Pro is free to use without a license. If a virus is found, you will receive a free 30-day license to remove the threat

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Hitman Pro 3.6

If you run into any problems along the way, please post back and let us know.
