Did anyone know maybe the update that was release for internet explorer 8 for windows XP on the 01/05/2014 is scam or not?

Well, it came in via Windows update. So it seemed real to me.

No, it was real, provided you got it from Windows Update. Microsoft decided to create an exception to it's no more support for XP rule and push out this update to everyone. It will (probably) be the only exception, so do not look at this as anything other than a minor reprieve to an imminent threat to anyone still using XP. There will be another one eventually, so make sure to keep up any and all efforts to migrate off of XP ASAP.
