downloaded any browser helper objects (BHO's) or browser skin features. Sometimes the unscrupulous one's will manage to download w/o you even knowing it. It may be in your Startup programs or Add/Remove Programs. Is your Homepage still intact?

IE download and install BHOs automatically, without you even knowing. A lot of people just start IE one day and find toolbars appearing out of nowhere. It's just a bad browser. Get Mozilla Firefox.
