Internet Explorer 5.1 or 5.5

I need to get an IE version greater than 5.0 on a remote, non-internet pc (to satisfy an Adobe install - don't know why). I've contacted MS but all they tell me is to update to XP. Does anyone know how I can download it to my internet-connected laptop and then get it over to the remote machine? I would not be using IE in any case since one machine is not connected and the other uses Netscape. If I can get 5.1 or 5.5, I'm assuming it's "safe" on either machine if not used - true?
Thanks in advance --
