For IE:

What list of programs? In Control Panel>Add/remove, in Start>Programs, on the top of the left column of the Start menu, on the bottom of the left column of the Start menu, in your Quick Launch area?
And is your question just on of academic curiosity, or do you want to ask how to get it back?

For Java:

It's not required to have Java installed. So for the moment nothing is wrong.

Kees

This is the tech tracker forum and my questions pertain to the update listing in the program.

All your questions seem to pertain to something which does not fit.
