how did you determine you are using IE 4? if that is true and the messages you are getting imply that it is true, then you are now stuck in a very difficult position. a failed IE installation usually can't be fixed without a clean installation of Windows. this is one of the consequences of tightly integrating the web browser and the operating system. there really isn't any way out of it without a lot of expertise in editing the registry and contantly comparing your system to a similarly configured fully working Windows ME system.
Herb....
I'm using Windows ME and I started getting error message pages that say "cannot find page you are looking for". So I went to Microsoft help and found out I am using Internet Explorer 4.0., but I installed Internet Explorer 6.0 months ago. I tried to re upgrade to Internet Explorer 6.0 and it installs up to 93% and I receive a message saying not all files could be installed and then I receive another message saying that a previous installation needs to be completed, to shut down and restart computer to finish. I restart my computer and try to resume setup and the same messages start over again. Please help me?
