Re: internet speed

- How are you connected to what (Ethernet cable or WiFi; to modem, modem/router, router, switch, wireless access point or repeater, powerline)?
- Directly on the motherboard or on a separate card?
- Did you install all needed drivers? Windows or Linux?
- Other devices on the same modem/router/connection are still fast?

- Why does it take so long to install drivers? They used to come on a CD with the motherboard, but even if you download the latest version from the makers site, it shouldn't take hours. Anyway, the system only is stable when they are all installed.
- If other devices (old PC, laptop, tablet, phone) are affected also, it's not an issue with this PC at all. Let me guess: it's near the end of the month and you're ISP is lowering the speed because you reached some limit in your subscription. Then all should be fine Sunday April 1 again.

That's strange.

- What exactly do you mean with "turn off the connection to the internet"?
- Maybe the new PC is downloading or uploading so much info (Windows updates, malware) that it makes the connection slower for other purposes. Did you turn off sharing updates in Windows 10? Did you check the traffic? See http://www.thewindowsclub.com/free-bandwidth-monitoring-tools-windows for example.

To me you just explained it.

The drivers are going to take you hours and it's well known that out of the box, just installed Windows is not ready for use.
