One wonders if you've contacted Verizon. . . .

If so, what were the results. Since DSL is distance limited and it rides a voice telephone cable pair, it can be affected by numerous metallic faults. Back to my message title.

Small world.

I owned a 524 and unless you set it up per our Networking forum it will tank the speed. Here's the short short short version. Latest firmware, router defaults, just what it needs to work with Verizon for settings and WPA for security.

If you use any MAC filters or do port forwarding or any other tricks you take a hit on speed by half, quarter to 10 per cent of what would be possible.

In closing I still find non-believers on this but having owned one and fixed too many I can only share.
