Internet disconnection

Jun 7, 2005 7:55AM PDT

I am having trouble since changing to XP with automatic internet disconnection.
I no longer get a box asking if I would like to disconnect once I have closed down the email and internet pages. Because of this I sometimes forget to disconnect. Any ideas??

It's unknown from what you write....

whether you are using a dialup or high speed broadband connection to the Net. Since a high speed connection is always on, a disconnect message is not offered.

Try This

If you are still using dialup: Then with IE open Tools>Internet Options>connections tab under dial up virtual private network settings click on the settings button.

Then under dial up settings click the advanced button. Click on the, disconnect when connection may no longer be needed box to place a check mark in it. The click ok, ok, ok, and you should get it back.

Sometime with XP you have to re-type your pass word in before it will work right when you try to re-connect.

Thanks so much, that's done the trick. I went in to that dept many times too, and never saw that box to tick. Thanks again.
