Internet Cut off Problem

I'm not very smart when it comes to computers and I've been searching for this problem for a while with no solutions yet. About four months ago I bought a new gaming desktop computer.

I have never had a problem with it. It always connected to the internet perfectly fine. I play games and edit/upload to youtube weekly with no problem. But since Monday whenever I turn on my desktop the internet cuts off.

Now I also have a laptop, 4 game consoles and everything. When i turn them on i have no problem with them. But when I turn on my desktop about five minutes pass before the internet just shuts off until i turn the computer off. I had a friend say it couldn't be a bandwidth limitation problem since it worked fine up until this monday. If you could help me please know, and if I need to post any more information about the computer I will, I just don't know what to do or post because I really don't know anything about computers

We'll Need More Information From Both Of You

To Myke90, give us more information about your computer. Operating system? Make and model or specifics about the RAM, processor, etc. Also, tell us what you mean by "the internet just shuts off". What kind of internet connection do you have? DSL, Cable, FIOS, something else? Does your internet connection stop for all devices connected to the router? Or just the desktop? Have you tried simply swapping in a different/new ethernet cable?

Either way, have you tried re-initializing the router/modem to your ISP like this? Turn off all devices connected to the router. Then turn OFF the router using the power switch or unplug int, then turn OFF the modem (if it's separate from the router), then wait 10 minutes. Once that's done, turn ON the modem, wait 2 minutes for it to re-initialize with the ISP, then turn ON the router (if it's separate from the modem), then turn ON the desktop computer.

Also, since malware can cause glitches like this, please follow the steps in the link below to scan your machine, in the order they are given.:
