Question

Internet connection via Wifi predictably drops after 2hrs

Dec 20, 2016 3:24AM PST

I've searched and searched and have not found a solution to my particular problem.

So internet connection is fine for around 2 hours and then it loses connection - internet light on hub is still saying connected. If I connect ethernet to hub, i have internet connection. Problem is worsened when more than 4 devises connect to wifi (2 computers and 2 phones).
If i turn off or reset hub, internet connection over wifi is resorted but then the cycle begins again after around 2 hours.

I have reset the hub to factory settings, reinstalled the wifi connection on all devises and the problem still occurs.

Has anyone got any suggestions? Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Jasper

I missed where you did the usual test.

When I see this I have to try another router. I don't see that.

test? new router still problematic
Dec 23, 2016 12:18AM PST

Hello,

Please can you elaborate on this test you expected me to do?

I have got a new router from BT and the problem still persists.
The problem first manifested itself when I got a new laptop. Ever since then, it has been crashing at these 2 hour intervals...

Thanks

Then a router of a different make and model.

As to the laptop, if it's just the TV then test it with the laptop off and then another router of a different make.

It's only mildly complicated to use the ISP's modem+router as just a modem and your own router as the router for your network.
