Internet connection problem via LAN

Aug 29, 2008 11:44PM PDT

I stay in a hostel and connect to the internet through a LAN port in my room. The problem that i have been facing for quite some time now is that suddenly the internet gets disconnected. The lights in the LAN port in my laptop are still on. The icon on the taskbar show computer icon with an exclamation mark and says limited connectivity.
I have confirmed that its not a problem of LAN as others with the same connection settings are still able to use it.
The surprising part is that after i restart my laptop, it gets connected again and works perfectly (for sometime after which its the same problem again..and restart).
Any solutions or suggestions?

I use Win Vista Home Premium.

Could be "something"

But looking at your post there is nothing that narrows it down except to your machine. Do the usual scans with what you have and MALWAREBYTES (see google) and then ask if it works fine elsewhere.
