Internet connection problem

Nov 8, 2005 1:49AM PST

I cannot connect to the broadband internet on my desktop, but can on my laptop. My desktop, a Compaq Presario 6000 never had any connection problems until just recently. I know that my cable is getting the right signal b/c my laptop has no problem connecting...directly to it. What could likely be the problem, & will it mean relplacing the computer? I was having a few other tech/keyboard minor irritations before this, i.e.backspace was messing up/not replacing mistake, putting a '5' everywhere when punched....but I adjusted. Tell me what I can do please. Thanks, Kay

Which operating system is being used? Which browser are you using? Internet Explorer? Which version of Internet Explorer? Have you tried a different browser such as Firefox?

If you haven't already, please download, install, update, then run ALL of the free spyware removal tools from the links below. If you can't download them on your desktop machine, then download them to another computer, then burn them to a Cd and transfer them over.:

Kayleg, I'm a newbie too and this sounds like you may have a bad networking card in the computer. Also do you drink coffee IN the computer room? I did and coffee caused my keyboard to malfunction ... yup! new keyboard for me. Ed V
