I have the wifi switch set to off.
I am running Vista on a HP pavilion laptop. My internet connectiion icon has disappeared from the notification area and the network option is greyed out in the task bar manager option. can anyone advise solution.

Thanks for your reply, but I should have stated that I am connected via wireless and therefore have wifi permanantly swithed on.
Try turning the wifi off with the slide switch on the front left, wait then back on. If it is still gone, reboot and if it is still gone consider system restore to when it worked.

I had tried switching off wifi and rebooting but not system restore which has worked, I should have thought of that! Thanks for reminding me how usful system restore can be.
