internet always slow

hello alll

this is what i want ask about internet connection
lately my friend pc always have a slow connection to the internet
its just like this he used mozilla firefox as a main web page but when it want to go to www.yahoo.com it still very slow and sometime it said the page is expired (occour when it took long search and end up like this )
and another one is there have any problem with the firewall device

is there any way to recover the problem or any suggestion about the problem solving solution

my friend pc model are acer veriton s661
os win xp pro sp2
cpu 1.6ghz , 1.0 Gb ram
80 Gb hdd

any solving idea could be help

your friend's security software on this computer, eg Firewall, Anti-virus scanner and Anti-spyware scanners.

When did he last perform full scans with these?

Slow connection

1. Update all security software (as suggested above)and scan entire computer
2. Clear out temporary internet files from your browser (in Firefox 3.5 Tools>Clear recent history, in IE Tools>Internet Options>General>Delete browsing history)
3. Reset your router/modem - power off modem (and router if you have one) , leave off for two minutes, while you restart your computer, then power on again

Slow internet connections can be caused by many different factors but the above steps will often help.
