You turn on your PC and get the desktop. Then gradually the system notification area (bottom right, next to the clock) begins to fill as your antivirus and firewall and other start-up programs are starting. How long is the total time till everything is up and running?
Then you start any program (like Notepad or even MS Word). How long does that take?
Then you start Internet Explorer (or Firefox for that matter, you don't even tell that). What is your home page (the first page shown)? How long does it take before it's shown?
Then you close your browser and open it again. How long before showing the home page?
Now set your homepage to be an empty page and repeat the whole experiment (starting with a fresh boot). How long does it take to show your old home page if you type the address in the address bar? And the second time?
Now reboot into Safe Mode with network support (be sure your Windows Firewall is turned on) and repeat the experiment again.
Post your detailed findings please.
