Internet 6.0 Problem

May 23, 2005 8:11AM PDT

Folders with shortcuts to file sharing web sites are being added to my IE 6.0 favorites folder even though I keep deleting them. Every time I restart the browser these folders reappear. I've tried all of the following to no avail:

Ad-Aware

None of the Adware blockers/utilities will fix it. I "purposely" installed that garbage also once.
Here is the ultimate solution I used:
First Go to Microsofts update site and sign up for them to mail you a service pack CD(SP1 and SP2 are available). This way you can install them without going on-line without them. Reformat Win XP only and do not delete the hardrive files. then install the SP2 from your mailed CD. THey never come back again and I went right back where I got them from and still they cannot load anymore.

Tiava web loads a trojan
Jun 1, 2005 2:11AM PDT

I surf porno, sure and that is where most of my baddies originate. One is this site called Tiava. When it's homepage loads, through a blind re-direct link(takes about a tenth of a second) it tries to install a trojan or BHO or something and all these pop-up windows will start appearing and prompting you to say yes or no. Problem: You are already stuck; clicking the yes, clicking the no, clicking the X at the top right corner? Control/Alt/Delete and stopping it from running? Your all ready too late. all of these options actually give it a yes confirmation to install and then these new favorites are in your browser forever. I have done this on purpose, about several times now. All options were fake ones.

Since the SP2
Jun 1, 2005 2:15AM PDT

SP2 stopped this from happening. I went right back to Tiava and it doesn't load the bug anymore. Either the SP2 did its job or my Yahoo Pop-up blocker(also new install) stopped it.
