International Cell phones, calling plan???

Feb 15, 2006 4:21AM PST

Hi everybody:
I'm moving overseas next month to Israel, needing information on global phones, and options for service.
I'm an existing customer with verizon and this is the only option for me as of now:

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=406

I'm researching international phones with compatability for service with verizon, my phone as of now has the capability but only with extra$$$ for service. My only option with verizon is a global phone.
I would love to hear personal experiences, cell phone recommendations or anything that could help me out in this .

sim cards are little cards that operate gsm phones. cingular and t-mobile. if you buy an unlocked phone, you buy a sim card in your country and use it with the phone.

I'm with verizon and want to stay with verizon. obviously you have not read the complete posting, maybe this forum is moderated by dealers\salesmen wanting to sell a product rather than a forum helping those with questions pertaining to the forums intent.
I'm seeking information and research from those who have had similiar experiences with moving overseas from the US, what specific technology they have used and cellphones they have found to be the best.
