Having seen many hundred machines with both my answer is maybe one will work better than the other. Given the years of seeing all this and one work better than the other and then reverse on another machine my lesson is that you can't state one will always be better.
The G650 was a dud here and I gifted mine out on freecycle (see google) years ago. I wonder if it lives on to haunt owners that keep trying to make it work better.
About the D600. With internals I've lost track how many times I find the antenna cables unplugged.
Just curious, but in general do external/PCM wireless cards get better reception than internal cards?
I have two laptops that alternate duty at work. One is an old Dell C400 (P3)that I equipped with a D-Link DWL-G650 PCM Card. The other is a Dell D600 that has whatever internal card it left the factory with. As slow as it is, the C400 can grab a WiFi signal anywhere. The D600 has a very limited range.
I have a couple of other PCM cards and just wonder if the external card would give better reception. The reception is a bigger criteria than looks or bulk.
All opinions appreciated,
