Resolved Question

Intermittent signal when streaming netflix

Feb 26, 2012 9:24PM PST

Recently purchased an LG BD670 dvd player mostly for streaming Netflix to my Sanyo HDTV. While playing DVD's the unit works fine but when streaming Netflix wireless or wired I get intermittent signal which causes the video to studder and then loss of audio. Does anyone have a solution? I also am having problems with the audio sync.

What is the model number of your Sanyo HDTV?

What ISP are you using? DSL, Cable? And what are the approximate speedtest numbers you are seeing with your high speed internet connection?

Which router are you using? What settings are you using on the router? Security being used? Have you tried changing the wireless channel to see if that helps?

Sorry for the missing information..
We have Cable internet from Suddenlink and when checking the speed tests with my computer sitting on top of the dvd stand, I get download 9.24 Mbps and upload is 1.04 Mbps. I am using a Netgear Wireless-G WGR614v10 and the TV is a Sanyo Plasma, model DP50741.. Not sure about which settings on the router you need, but I can check on that. Also security is used and I don't know how to change the wireless channel. Funny story.. Last night watching a movie streamed wireless the movie stuttered and the audio stopped. Had to continuously stop the movie and restart. Then finally getting frustrated, I started the laptop ( approx 10 feet away) and watch the movie with no issues.
Thanks for taking the time to help, I appreciate it greatly.

The audio sync is not the result of the networking.

If you research what's going on, it's Netflix's encoding and Netflix's code in the sets. Also we have Netflix PURPOSELY blinking the screen as connection rate changes.

With all that on Netflix's head (they caused it) you learn to avoid WiFi and get wired or use one of those powerline network links.

meant to reply not pick best answer, although your post is very very helpful Happy I'm to the point of going wired. I purchased a 50' ethernet cable only that doesnt seem to help with the audio stopping issues.

It's been the culprit in too many network bug hunts. Here's the settings I use to get as much as I can without turning off wifi and getting wired.

1. Router Defaults.
2. SIMPLE SSID. DO NOT HIDE.
3, NO SECURITY EXCEPT WPA2-AES Personal.

That's it.

As to the audio stoppage, sorry but I do not see that issue often and have nothing to offer about that.
