Running Windows XP SP3, 1GB of RAM, 45GB HDD with plenty of free space, no changes to MB BIOS since install last year, no changes to power management settings for at least two years. In other words, my system has not had any of these recent shutdown problems. What is happening is that after I boot up and run apps, etc. the computer turns off(no blue screen, no dialog boxes re problems, no Windows shutdown screen)as if I had gone through a regular shutdown.
My first inclination is that the power supply (450watts) has bit the dust, or at least has something internal wrong that is causing it to shutdown. There is no consistency to the amount of time that the system is on. Some days it doesn't shutdown at all, others 1-3 times in a 10 hour period.
