Question

Intel Security Assist (32 bit) and ise.exe problems

Aug 5, 2018 3:25PM PDT

I have 64 bit windows 10 on a DELL Inspiron laptop. Lately, boot up is extremely slow. I see a bunch of small windows flash on and off my screen and when I bring up task manager I see a Intel Security Assist (32 bit) appear on and off in the apps tab and a huge amount of ise.exe operations (over 100) in the details tab. I deactivated Intel Security assist (32 bit) in my start-up menu and that didn't solve the problem. I tried to uninstall it, but the uninstall didn't take. I have not tried refreshing Windows 10 yet because it would take me hours to reload the apps I would lose and reset Windows 10 settings I currently use. Has anyone else experienced this problem... and if so, do you have a fix that doesn't involve refreshing windows 10? Any suggestions?

Read all 10 replies. My thought is that some advanced methods may be required to remove but I really think some trojan or such is making trouble. Try Grif's scans at http://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/how-to-remove-pup-option-603542/#post-f742c795-5881-433b-a29b-6d758efe5cd3 and if that fails, just sign up to Bleepingcomputer.com to make a request for a hand in possible malware.

As to advanced removal I'm thinking Revo Uninstaller and the usual items we find with AUTORUNS (see google.) The problem is that I doubt these advanced removals (beyond Revo) are documented well enough for new users. Nod to bleeping.

Update - problem found and solved

I ended up contacting micro-soft tech support. After some testing they decided I had somehow downloaded malware that disguised itself as a valid 32 bit process in my x86 program file. To solve it, they had me do a clean (safe) reboot and the problem disappeared. I then ran the windows defender malware search in the offline mode to get rid of the virus.
